Final* Featured Author Listing

Hello there, ladies and gentlemen.

It’s been a little while since we’ve updated things around here. I’ve been off gallivanting at a few conventions (AAD & Dragon*Con) and took that time to finalize* our Featured Author listing. Rounding out our squee-worthy lineup will be Pamela Palmer, Hildie McQueen, Stephanie Julian, and Elisabeth Naughton. That gives us 44 AMAZING authors!!!! (I’ll have the last 4 author profiles added to the Featured Author page in the next couple of days.)

And that little *… that’s just a reminder that all of this is considered “tentative” until the weekend is actually here and they’re chillin’ by the beach with us. Life happens, crazy happens, and although I’m crossing my fingers for us, cancellations happen. I have my waiting list of authors who’ve expressed interest in coming, so if someone DOES have to bow out, we have more cool peeps to take their place.

So, my lovelies… we’re in for one heck of a weekend in February!!! Please keep in mind, we’ll be having panels and planned discussions, but the whole idea of this weekend is to be casual and relaxing. All the scheduling will incorporate time to just hang out and talk to people. The vendor room will be small, so you’ll have a chance to get a trinket or two, but the main focus of this shindig is to spend time with other fans of the books we all love (that INCLUDES the authors who write them).

Speaking of scheduling… now that the author list is complete, I’ll be working on a panel/reading schedule. I’m hoping to make it a mix of serious genre discussion, industry related info, and crazy random funstuffs. I’m expecting this to take me a couple of weeks (oh, to be independently wealthy and not have to work the day job…) but hope to have it finalized by the authors and posted here by the end of September. (If anyone has a topic they’d like to see included, feel free to let me know. I have a list of panels, but I’m definitely willing to work in something new if there’s significant interest.)

Oh… and I’ve heard the chattering teeth and “hold my hand” talk out there in cyberspace concerning the ghost tours. I can assure you that, although the tours are fun, informative, and DO indeed point out occurences and sightings of local spirits, they are meant to be more historic and give everyone a taste of the atmosphere of the city… not to scare you. St. Augustine’s past is a tumultuous one, and it has many more than the average city’s number of ghostly haunts and restless spirits. If you’re interested in having your heebies jeebied, there ARE tours available that delve more into “ghost finding” and such, but you’ll have to arrange one of those on your own.

I think that’s all the updating for now.

I’ll be working with the Featured Bloggers for some fun promo in the next few weeks, and we’ll be having a BIG contest with a really awesome prize coming in October. Keep your eyes open and spread the word. I’d hate for anyone to miss out!!

Update 7/1/12

It’s HERE!!! It’s HERE!!!

*cuts ribbon with giant scissors*

Public Registration is NOW OPEN!!! Please click on the Registration tab above to access the EventBrite.com link. (They’ll be processessing all ticket sales and confirmations.)

Also, hotel information (discount code, rates, phone #, directions, etc.) has been updated. You can now make your room reservations. PLEASE USE THE DISCOUNT CODE ON THE HOTEL INFO PAGE. This will not only give you the discounted rate, but will make sure you end up in our reserve block of rooms.

I’ve had a few more authors confirm in the last couple of days, but I’m waiting on some details to get them added to the Featured Author page, so keep an eye out for another update soon!!

I’ve also updated the Vendors/Sponsors page. The vendor room is about half booked, and I’m pleased with the variety of merchants so far. I’m working with a few other possibilities, right now, so I’m hoping to update that with more unique treats for you soon.

Please take note of those people and businesses that appear under the “sponsors” heading. Those people are doing some fantastic things to make sure we ALL have a memorable event. I can’t possibly thank them enough for their generosity.

I think that’s it for now! If you register for the event… be sure to also subscribe to this site, or follow @OldeCityCon2013 on twitter to get updates as they are added.

Please feel free to spread the word to your UF/PNR loving friends. We’re gonna have a blast, and I don’t want anyone to miss out. 🙂

Update 6/28/12

Hi there!!

In the last couple of days, I’ve added 3 or 4 more authors to the Featured Author page, and I’ve got a few more to add as soon as I get a little more info from them!! It looks like we *may* hit 40 FEATURED AUTHORS!!!! (I was originally hoping for 20-25, so WOW!!)

There have been some exciting things going on the last week or so. I’m trying to get more things settled for the start of public registration on July 1st. There will still be things to work out after that, so just keep an eye out for updates. All the basic, necessary info will be post by the 1st, though.

Feel free to pass this link around to your friends and fans, and if you have any questions, definitely let me know!!

Update 6/22/12

I woke up to some fantastic emails this morning!! (And one that made me sad, but I can’t get EVERYONE on my wish list to come. Some people have to, you know… WRITE BOOKS!!)

I’ve just added to the Featured Author page and the Featured Blogger page. I’ve still got a few more confirmed authors to add, and I’m getting requests and confirmations on previous requests just about every day!! Things are crazy exciting in the planning process right now!!

As much as I hate to do it, I’m thinking I’m going to have to cap the Featured Author number soon. If you’re an author who’s heard about the event, and want to attend, please let me know soon. (I’ll make as much space as I need to for the charity signing, though, so if you don’t make the cut-off for Featured Author, we can still work something out.) I’ve also go one or two more spots for Featured Bloggers, again, if you’re interested, please contact me soon.

I think that’s it for now… I’ve updated right through my break at work.

Only 9 more days until registration opens!!!
